नीरज चोपड़ा लुसाने डायमंड लीग में दूसरे स्थान पर रहे: 88.05 मीटर भाला फेंका, श्रीलंकाई रुमेश पथिरागे ने खिताब जीता

India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra finished second in the Lausanne Diamond League. He threw the javelin 88.05 meters in the second attempt.

28 year old Neeraj threw the best throw of the last one year in his second attempt. This was also his best throw of this season.

But, he remained just 9 centimeters behind Rumesh Pathiraje of Sri Lanka. Pathirage won the title with 88.14 metres. Grenada’s Anderson Peters finished third with 86.69 metres.

Pathirage had also won gold in the Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow last month and Neeraj had to be content with the silver medal.

Pathiraje took lead in the third round

23-year-old Rumesh Pathiraje made a throw of 88.14 meters in the third round. With this performance, he left Neeraj behind and took first place and won the title.

Pathiraje has been performing consistently well this season. In Lausanne, he won first place in a star-studded competition of nine players.

Neeraj’s second best throw in Diamond League

Neeraj’s throw of 88.05 meters was the best since his performance of 88.16 meters while winning the Paris Diamond League in June 2025. However, they finished second in the Diamond League finals held in Zurich.
