21-year-old Arun was seriously injured after being bitten by a poisonous snake in Jyoti Nagar of Dehat Kotwali area in Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh. While picking up a sack of grass in the field, he was bitten by a hidden snake. Neighboring medical store operator Shivam Sharma immediately took Arun to the medical college on his bike. In the emergency, the doctors advised not to let the patient sleep, after which elder brother Akash kept him awake by splashing water and slapping more than 150 times on his cheeks. In the end, a five-member team of doctors saved Arun’s life by giving 15 anti-venom doses in two hours.

21-year-old Arun, a resident of Jyoti Nagar in Dehat Kotwali area, had taken water to the fields for his elder brother Akash on Saturday afternoon. There, while picking up a sack of grass, Arun was bitten by a poisonous snake hidden below. On hearing Arun’s scream, Akash ran to the spot and brought his brother towards the road. Arun’s condition started deteriorating rapidly. Meanwhile, medical store operator Shivam Sharma, resident of Pragati Nagar, who was passing by, made both the brothers sit on his bike and immediately took them to the medical college.
Brother slapped 150 people on doctor’s advice
In the emergency of the Medical College, EMO Dr. Sher Singh and his five-member team started the treatment. Doctors instructed the family that the patient should not be allowed to sleep at any cost, because becoming unconscious can be fatal. On the instructions of the doctor, elder brother Akash sprinkled water on Arun’s face for about two hours and kept him conscious by continuously slapping his cheeks more than 150 times.
Arun’s life saved by 15 anti-venom doses
According to EMO Dr. Sher Singh, normally 5 anti-venom injections are given in case of snake bite, but considering the serious effect of poison in Arun’s body, a total of 15 anti-venom doses were given within two hours. The doctor said that it is fatal for the patient to fall asleep after a snake bite, due to which there is a danger of the nervous system getting blocked and the respiratory tract getting blocked. Arun’s life could be saved due to timely help and promptness of doctors.
