The record for the shortest speech (14 minutes) on Independence Day is held by former Prime Minister Nehru in 1954 and Indira Gandhi in 1966. Former Prime Ministers Manmohan Singh and Atal Bihari Vajpayee also gave the shortest speeches from the Red Fort. In 2012 and 2013, Manmohan Singh gave speeches of only 32 and 35 minutes. In 2002 and 2003, Vajpayee gave speeches for 25 and 30 minutes.
