Mount Etna erupted in Sicily, disrupting air travel and leaving hundreds of passengers stranded as volcanic ash affected airports in the region. Catania Airport remained shut amid the volcanic activity, while Comiso Airport was also closed due to ashfall. Meanwhile, fountains of lava and flames offered a spectacular sight for tourists near Europe’s most active volcano.
