Iran’s Foreign Ministry states that the country is “not engaged in any negotiations with the United States”.

Iran has rejected US President Donald Trump’s claim that negotiations between Washington and Tehran are underway, with its Foreign Ministry stating that no talks are currently taking place between the two countries.
According to Iran’s Foreign Ministry, the country is “not engaged in any negotiations with the United States”. It also dismissed suggestions that Tehran had sought to restart discussions, saying doing so was “not in our DNA”. Instead, the ministry said it was the United States that had requested talks, according to Tasnim.
The ministry also reiterated that there had been no change in the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, saying the strategic waterway remained completely closed to all lanes.
Iran rules out ongoing negotiations
The Foreign Ministry’s statement came on Monday, despite a pause in the recent military confrontation between Iran and the United States.
While President Donald Trump’s administration has indicated that diplomatic efforts are continuing, Tehran maintained that no negotiations are taking place at present. The latest remarks directly contradicted claims that discussions between the two countries were ongoing following the suspension of military strikes.
Military strikes remain on hold
The United States and Iran have paused military strikes against each other for the second consecutive day, raising hopes of a possible diplomatic breakthrough. The pause also contributed to a sharp fall in global oil prices.
US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz said President Donald Trump was allowing negotiations with Tehran “a little bit of room” after diplomatic efforts gathered pace in recent days.
Speaking to Fox News on Sunday, Waltz said, “The President is giving talks some space. We remain locked and loaded, but he’s going to give negotiations a little bit of room.”
According to CNN, a US source said military operations were currently “on hold”. The source also said regional allies had not reported any fresh Iranian attacks during the pause.
Iran confirms halt to retaliatory operations
Iran also confirmed that it had suspended its retaliatory operations following the halt in US strikes.
However, the Foreign Ministry maintained that there were no negotiations taking place with Washington, rejecting claims that talks had resumed.
At the same time, Tehran reaffirmed that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz remained unchanged, with the waterway continuing to stay completely closed to all lanes.
