Two people were killed and five others were injured in a shooting at Seattle’s Bite of Seattle festival. Videos capture gunshots, panic and people hiding inside nearby stores.

Two people were killed and five others, including a two-year-old child, were injured after a shooting at Seattle’s popular Bite of Seattle food festival on Sunday evening, triggering panic among hundreds of visitors.
Dramatic videos circulating on social media showed the terrifying moments when multiple gunshots rang out during the annual festival near the Space Needle.
In one clip, a series of loud bangs could be heard before people began screaming and running in different directions.
Another video showed frightened festival-goers taking shelter inside a nearby store and other buildings as police rushed to secure the area.
Later, some unverified social media posts claimed a person was detained in handcuffs. However, authorities were yet to confirm whether that individual was connected to the shooting.

The shooting occurred at nearly 6 pm local time during the final hours of the three-day festival, one of Seattle’s biggest annual public events.
Authorities evacuated parts of the Seattle Centre campus while officers launched a search for the shooter.
Police had not announced any arrests or disclosed a possible motive at the time of writing.
According to the Associated Press (AP), Seattle Fire Department spokesperson Grace Nuñez said two victims died at the scene, while five others were taken to Harborview Medical Centre for treatment.
Among the injured was a 56-year-old woman, who remained in serious condition.
The remaining victims included a two-year-old boy, a 23-year-old man, and a 39-year-old woman, all reported to be in stable condition.
A 40-year-old woman sustained minor injuries. Hospital spokesperson Susan Gregg was quoted as saying that the victims suffered injuries involving the arm, abdomen and legs.
Washington Governor Bob Ferguson said he was receiving updates on the situation and confirmed that Washington State Patrol SWAT officers had been deployed to assist the Seattle Police Department.
“My prayers are with the families of the victims, and the responders as they work to keep people safe,” Ferguson said in a statement.
Videos circulating on social media showed a heavy police presence, ambulances, and emergency responders converging near the International Fountain and areas surrounding the Space Needle.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as the shooting unfolded.
The Bite of Seattle festival, first held in 1982, attracts roughly 350,000 visitors over three days and is regarded as one of the city’s largest annual food celebrations.
Police continued to investigate the shooting and have not yet released details about the suspect or what led to the gunfire.
