US President Donald Trump on Friday said that the US would begin using frozen Iranian assets to pay for ships and cargo damaged by strikes in and around the Gulf.
“Please let this statement serve to represent, until further notice, that from this point forth, any and all damages done to Ships, Cargo, or anything related thereto, will be paid for by Iranian Money that the United States has in its possession, and controls. These damages may be very substantial but, nevertheless, this is the fair and equitable thing to do,” Trump said on Truth social.
The US will use frozen Iranian assets under its control to pay for damages to ships and cargo resulting from strikes in the Gulf. President Trump stated that any and all damages will be paid for by Iranian money that the United States possesses and controls.
