2026 Brezza is Maruti Suzuki’s safest SUV: Gets 5-star rating for both adult and child safety in India NCAP crash test

Frontal Impact Test: In the frontal impact test conducted at a speed of 64kmph, Brezza got 14.41 points out of 16. In this, the protection of the driver’s head, neck, waist, thigh and ankle was described as ‘good’. At the same time, the protection of the chest and tibia of both the legs (the part between the knee and ankle) was found to be adequate.

At the same time, the protection of head, neck, chest, waist, thigh, tibia and ankle of the side passenger was described as ‘good’. Its footwell area and bodyshell integrity are said to be ‘stable’.

Side Impact Test: The sedan was tested in a side impact test at a speed of 50kmph, in which it scored 16 out of 16. In this test, the head, stomach, chest and waist area got ‘good’ protection.

Side Pole Impact Test: In this test, the safety of the driver’s head, chest, stomach and waist was found to be good. Based on the performance of these three tests, Brezza got 30.41 points out of 32 in the adult protection category, which is enough for a 5 star safety rating.

2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza: Child Occupant Protection Crash Test

In this test, dummies of an 18-month-old and a 3-year-old child were placed on the child restraint system in the opposite direction. Maruti Brezza scored 43 out of 49 points in the child protection category, earning a 5 star crash test rating in this category.

In this category, Car Dynamic Score was 24 out of 24, Child Restraint System (CRS) Installation Score was 12 out of 12 and Vehicle Assessment Score was 7 out of 13.

In the crash test, the 3-year-old child dummy scored 8 out of 8 in the frontal crash test and 4 out of 4 in the side crash test. At the same time, the 18-month-old child dummy scored 8 out of 8 points in the frontal crash test and 4 out of 4 points in the side crash test. However, information about the levels of protection has not been shared.

For child protection, child dummies were kept in the crash test.

The car will get advanced features like 6 airbags and ESC.

Bharat NCAP used the ‘ZXI+ 1.5L 6AT’ variant of the 2026 Brezza for crash tests. Many advanced features have been provided for safety in this variant:

• 6 airbags
• electronic stability control
• Seat belt reminder for all seats
• Seat belt pre-tensioners on front seats
• ISOFIX child-seat anchorages on rear seats

Crash test process

1. For the test, 4 to 5 human-like dummies are seated in the car. There is a child dummy in the back seat, which is fixed to the child ISOFIX anchor seat.

2. The vehicle is collided with an offset deformable barrier (hard object) at a fixed speed to see how much damage is done to the vehicle and the dummy. This is done in three ways.

• In the frontal impact test, the car is hit with a barrier at a speed of 64 kmph.
• In the side impact test, the vehicle is hit with a barrier at a speed of 50 kmph.
• In the pole side impact test, the car will be seen hitting a pole at a fixed speed. If the car achieves 3 star rating in the first two tests, the third test is conducted.

3. In the test, it is seen how much damage was done to the dummy after the impact, whether the airbags and safety features worked or not. Rating is given on the basis of all these.
