Former Governor of Reserve Bank of India Raghuram Rajan has been given a big responsibility in America. In fact, Kevin Warsh, considered close to Donald Trump, has recently become the Chairman of the US Fed and has also started including veterans in his team as part of his reform programs.

Three Indians have been included in his team, in which his name is included. Rajan will serve in the Balance Sheet Policy Task Force formed to examine the costs and benefits of the Federal Reserve’s current balance sheet system.

Raghuram Rajan has been nominated to the Balance Sheet Policy Task Force along with Harvard economist Karen Dynan and former Federal Reserve Governor Jeremy Stein. This panel will examine the costs, benefits, and institutional effects of the Federal Reserve’s current balance sheet arrangement.

One of them is Delhi-born American economist Raj Chetty, while the other is Microsoft senior executive Asha Sharma.

Warsh is forming five task forces
US Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh is forming 5 task forces and the appointment of Rajan and other Indian experts is part of this. Other members of the task force include former Bank of England governor Mervyn King, former Walmart CEO Doug McMillan, Nobel laureate Thomas Sargent and Silicon Valley venture capitalist Marc Andreessen.

Rajan has held these posts including RBI Governor
Raghuram Rajan has held many responsibilities including the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India. From 2003 to 2006, he was the Chief Economist and Director of the Research Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). So in 2012–2013 he played the role of Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of India. After this, in 2013, Rajan was appointed the 23rd Governor of RBI and he held this responsibility till 2016.
