1. Food and daily essential items are expensive: Wholesale inflation in June was 9.81%, highest in 44 months; Retail inflation is also increasing continuously for 6 months

Wholesale inflation (WPI) has increased to 9.87% in June. It was at 9.68% last month. Inflation in June is the highest in 44 months. It reached 10.70% in September 2022. The Commerce Ministry has released wholesale inflation figures today i.e. on July 14.
The reason for increase in inflation is the cost of daily essential items and food items. If the ongoing tension between America and Iran does not subside since February, its prices may increase further. Earlier yesterday, retail inflation figures were released.
