Seventeen days after his grandson’s death, Ketan Agarwal’s grandfather, Devichand Agarwal, passed away at a hospital in Pune on Saturday night, with the family claiming that he was unable to cope with the grief of losing his grandson.
According to family members, Devichand Agarwal had been admitted to the hospital, and his health had deteriorated following Ketan’s death. Doctors declared him dead at 9:45 pm on Saturday. He was 71 years old.

‘My Budhape’s Sahara’
On June 27, Devichand Agarwal joined a candle march held at his housing society despite being unwell.
A few days before his death, Devichand Agarwal had emotionally appealed for justice for his grandson, breaking down in tears as he spoke about what he described as a betrayal by people his family had trusted for decades. “Siya and Chetan should be awarded capital punishment,” he had demanded as he fought back tears.
Speaking to ANI, he appeared visibly devastated by Ketan Agarwal’s death and said, “Mere budhape ka sahara chala gaya.”
Recalling the family’s long association with Ketan’s fiancée’s family, Devichand had said, “We knew the girl’s family for 35 years.” He further alleged, “Their family knew that their daughter was in love with someone else…Her aunt and uncle pressed us for marriage. They told me 110 times, “Don’t worry, she is a very good girl.”
Ketan Agarwal died after falling from Lohagad Fort near Pune on June 18, prompting the registration of a case and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. Pune Rural Police continue to tighten the case against Siya Goyal and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, who are accused of murdering Siya’s fiancé, 25-year-old Ketan, at Lohagad Fort.
According to the Lonavala Rural Police, the prime accused, Siya, who was engaged to Ketan, was allegedly unwilling to get married at this stage of her life and was under pressure from her family to proceed with the wedding.
On Thursday, the Pune Rural Police took Goyal to an open ground in Pune’s Lullanagar area, where she and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary allegedly rehearsed the plan to push Ketan Agarwal off Lohagad Fort.
