- Chose the path of sports during school days: 28 year old Manjot Kaur Rattu told that she was not much interested in studies and was afraid of maths. For this reason he turned to sports during his school days. He started his sports career in the year 2015 and initially played kick boxing and kabaddi.
- Step into professional boxing in 2021: After trying his hand at different sports for about six years, Manjot made professional boxing his career in 2021. Won his first international fight in Thailand in 2022. After this, matches were played in Brisbane, Australia in 2024 and New Zealand in 2025. In New Zealand, she made her mark by giving a tough competition to world number two player Mia Motu.
- Got the idea of Power Slap from the coach: Manjot’s coach Jaskaran Singh told him about the power slap game. The coach was earlier associated with this game in Dubai. When Manjot realized that no girl from India had taken up this sport, she set herself the goal of becoming the country’s first female power slap player.
- Despite injuries, he chose a new challenge: Manjot told that the risk of injury in power slap is very high and initially he was not fully aware of its rules. Despite this, he accepted the challenge and participated in the International Power Slap Competition held in Abu Dhabi.
- Face cracked in third round, still completed the match: In the third round of the match, his mouthguard came out due to a strong slap from opponent Nikki Schaefer. Due to this, the cheeks and lips got badly torn from inside and blood started flowing. The coach advised him to leave the match, but Manjot refused to back down. He completed all three rounds. Later, 9 stitches had to be put on his face.
- Family asked to quit the game: The family became very nervous after suffering serious facial injuries. Family members advised him to leave this sport, but Manjot decided to stick to his decision. He says that to reach every big destination one has to face difficulties.
- Along with boxing, power slap training is also done daily: Manjot still does regular training for professional boxing. Apart from this, she practices power slap separately for about 15 minutes every day, in which after being slapped, work is done on balancing, stance and slapping technique.
- Next fight in Australia on 18th July: These days Manjot is in Australia. His next professional boxing fight is scheduled for July 18 in Sydney. She is considering this as an important match of her career.
- The only female professional boxer: Manjot claims that she is the only female professional boxer in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district. He says that girls in Doaba region usually choose football and athletics, but they have made their mark in different sports like boxing and power slap.

Rattu said that she does not just play for herself, but her dreams are very big. She wants to earn name and money from international competitions in future and open a boxing academy for the girls of Punjab.
Manjot believes that in the beginning it is most difficult to take a decision and follow the path, but once you take the step, the path opens automatically. She wants other girls from her area to also come into this sport and bring glory to the country.
