I’m an artiste, not politician: Diljit Dosanjh reacts to fan query on CJP protest


Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has made it clear that he does not want to be associated with protests or political debates. During a recent Instagram Live session, the actor-singer was asked about the ongoing protest at Jantar Mantar led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). Responding to the question, Diljit said he was unaware of the protest and stressed that he prefers to stay away from such political matters.

Responding to a question by a fan, the 42-year-old singer said, “Where is Jantar Mantar to protest? Bro, keep me at the door like a protest. Bro, I am an artiste. I don’t have any net. Everything in my life can never be the same. Nothing can be seen in this world.”

(What sort of protest are you talking about? Bro, keep me away from protests and such things. I am an artiste, not a politician. Everything in life can never be perfect. The world can never be completely free of problems).

He also quoted a line from the Guru Granth Sahib, “Nanak is saddened by the whole world, so saddened by his name.

Concluding his response, Diljit wished both sides, reiterated that he was unfamiliar with the issue and therefore had no further comment.

All about the protest

Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has held a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, where activists have been demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over repeated examination paper leaks and alleged irregularities.

The latest protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar drew students and supporters from different states, many of whom gathered to demand greater transparency and accountability in examination and recruitment processes.

The protest got support after climate activist Sonam Wangchuk also participated through a hunger strike.

Diljit’s work front

Diljit Dosanjh was last seen in Imtiaz Ali’s Main Vaapas Aaungaa Partition-era drama set during the India-Pakistan Partition. Also starring Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari and Vedang Raina, the film has emerged as one of 2026’s surprise box-office successes, winning praise from audiences and sustaining a strong theatrical run through positive word of mouth.

The singer-actor is currently busy with his ongoing Aura Tour 2026, performing at venues across the globe.
