In total, five students were rushed to the nearby Zen Hospital for emergency medical care. Tragically, 11-year-old Vihan Shrivastav sustained severe, critical injuries from the impact and was declared dead. The on-duty medical officer at Zen Hospital confirmed that the other four injured children sustained minor injuries and are currently in stable condition.
Following the incident, residents alleged that they had repeatedly written to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) requesting that the trees be trimmed or cleared, noting that a similar incident had occurred in the area previously. Despite multiple warnings, no action was taken.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy showers and thunderstorms for Mumbai and its suburbs today.
