The Central Government has once again extended the tenure of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta for three years. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved his re-appointment from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2029. Mehta became Solicitor General for the first time in October 2018. After this, his tenure has been extended twice and now he has got an extension of three years for the third consecutive time.
Mehta is among the prominent law officers representing the central government in the Supreme Court and other constitutional courts. He has presented the government’s side in many important matters related to Article 370, national security, electoral reforms, digital regulation and Centre-State disputes.

BMW collides with divider at speed of 250kmph in Mumbai, 2 dead
Two people died when a BMW car collided with a divider on the Mumbai-Vadodara Highway in Badlapur, Mumbai. The speed of the car at the time of the accident was about 250 kilometers per hour. The car was completely shattered and its parts scattered on the road.
