The re-exam of NEET-UG 2026 will be held today in more than 5,000 centers in 564 cities. Of these, 551 cities are in India and 12 abroad. 22.79 lakh students will appear in the examination.
According to NTA, more than 2 lakh personnel, 674 city coordinators and 6,669 observers have been deployed to conduct the exam. For the first time, the help of Indian Air Force has been taken to deliver the question paper to the centres.
The Air Force has taken more than 200 flights and transported the question papers to different zones across the country. The NEET-UG exam was scheduled to be held on May 3, 2026, but it was canceled by NTA on May 12 following allegations of paper leak. CBI is investigating the case.
You will get 15 minutes more in re-exam
NTA has made some changes in the re-exam. The exam time has been increased from 180 minutes to 195 minutes. Students of PwD and PwBD categories will be allowed to write the exam till 6:20 pm, giving additional time.
Free ORS lemonade will be available in Delhi, MP special trains will run
- Delhi: There are 97 centers in the capital. Students will be able to travel free in DTC and cluster buses. This facility will be available for coming and going. Cooling zones will be created outside the centers for the parents of the students, where ORS drinks, drinking water and lemonade will be available.
- Rajasthan: The exam will be held at about 611 centers in 25 districts in the state. CCTV cameras, signal jammers and 24-hour surveillance have been arranged in all centers and strong rooms. SOG and intelligence agencies will also keep an eye on the examination. Videography of the examination process will also be done.
- Madhya Pradesh: Exams will be held in 30 cities of the state. Railways will run special trains connecting Indore, Bhopal and Ratlam on June 20-21.
- Tamil Nadu: More than 1.4 lakh candidates will appear for the exam in the state. More than 307 examination centers have been set up in 31 districts. Chennai has the maximum of 43 centres.
- Telangana: Students will be able to travel free in RTC buses of the state government. For this they will have to show their NEET hall ticket.
- Maharashtra: All 1,820 local trains in Mumbai will run with their full schedule. There will be no mega block on any route of Central Railway.
- Uttarakhand: Section 163 of BNSS has been imposed within a 200 meter radius of 16 centers set up for the examination in Dehradun. There will be a ban on gathering of five or more people until the examination is over.
Officials took stock of the mock drill outside the centers in Delhi on Saturday.
NTA told students not to pay attention to rumours.
Before the NEET-UG re-exam, NTA has appealed to the students to remain calm and have confidence in their preparation. The agency has appealed to parents, teachers and common people not to spread information without verification. Help keep students stress free. NTA said that social media platforms are being continuously monitored to prevent rumors and irregularities.
Keep these things in mind before leaving home
According to NTA, candidates will be able to bring a transparent water bottle with them. Diabetic candidates will be allowed to bring sugar tablets and fruits like banana, apple or orange. At the same time, candidates wearing religious or traditional attire and full sleeve or woolen clothes have been advised to reach earlier for the testing process.
Even the experts did not know for which exam the questions were being prepared.
- NTA created a new system to prepare question papers. Under this, even the experts who prepared the questions were not given information as to which examination the questions prepared by them were to be used.
- These questions were kept in a digital question bank containing about 10 thousand questions. Later, with the help of technology, final question papers were prepared from these questions for different examinations.
Exam was held on 3rd May, canceled after 9 days
NEET-UG exam was held on May 3 in 551 cities of the country and 14 centers abroad. About 20 lakh candidates had appeared in it. According to NTA, information about irregularities in the examination was received on the evening of May 7. After this the matter was handed over to the central agencies.
On May 12, the exam was canceled and the decision to re-exam was taken. On May 15, the Education Ministry and NTA announced the date of NEET re-exam. CBI is investigating this matter. So far 13 people have been arrested.
NTA was formed 8 years ago, has been in controversies many times.
National Testing Agency (NTA) is an independent organization of the Central Government that conducts the country’s major entrance and eligibility tests. The headquarters is in Delhi. Every year it conducts more than 10 national level exams including NEET-UG, JEE Main, CUET-UG/PG, UGC-NET, CSIR-UGC NET, AISSEE, NCET.

NEET paper leak case in Supreme Court, 2 hearings so far
NEET paper leak case is in the Supreme Court. Two hearings have taken place so far. The bench of PS Narasimha and Justice Alok Aradhe is conducting the hearing. The first hearing on the petitions of Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA), United Doctors Front (UDF) and others was held on May 25 and the second hearing on May 29.
May 25: Supreme Court said – NTA did not learn a lesson
The Supreme Court reprimanded the National Testing Agency (NTA) and said – It is sad that NTA did not learn any lesson from the earlier paper leak case. This matter also reached the Supreme Court in 2024. Then a committee was formed, which gave several recommendations, which were also accepted. The Supreme Court had said on the NEET-UG paper leak case that such incidents are not going to stop until accountability is fixed.
