Zuckerberg said in a letter to the Judiciary Committee that for several months in 2021, the Biden administration pressured him to censor content.

Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg has alleged that the Joe Biden-Kamala Harris administration repeatedly pressured his company to censor (remove) Covid-related posts.

He has made these allegations in a letter written to the Judiciary Committee. He said that it was wrong for the government to exert pressure like this. He regrets that he could not speak much on this issue earlier.

Zuckerberg wrote in the letter that the Biden administration put pressure on him for several months in 2021. They even wanted to remove memes related to COVID-19. When we did not agree to this, they also expressed their disappointment about it.

​​​​Meta Chief said that ultimately it was our decision whether to remove the content or not. We are responsible for our decisions.

Zuckerberg wrote in the letter that it was wrong for the government to put pressure on him. He regrets that he could not speak on this earlier.

Zuckerberg said- will not bow down to government pressure
Zuckerberg said- “I think we should not bow down to the pressure of any government under any circumstances. We should not compromise on the standards of our content. Even if something like this happens again, our response will be the same as before.”

In the same letter, Zuckerberg alleged that the FBI had warned him before the 2020 elections. The Meta chief said that the New York Post had written a report on the matter of corruption of the Biden family. The FBI had called it Russian propaganda and asked to put a fact check notice on it.

Zuckerberg said that Meta demoted this story on Facebook. Because of this, this story did not reach many people. Zuckerberg claimed in the letter that the reporting was not Russian propaganda and should not have been suppressed.

Earlier, Zuckerberg admitted in a podcast in 2022 that Meta had suppressed content related to Biden on Facebook. He said that Facebook had censored the news of Biden’s son Hunter Biden’s laptop for a week before the US presidential election in 2020 through an algorithm. Zuckerberg said that he was asked to do this by the FBI.

Republican Party took a dig
After Zuckerberg’s allegations, the Republican Party has taunted the Biden administration. The party wrote on social media – Mark Zuckerberg has admitted three things: 1- The Biden-Kamala Harris administration ‘pressured’ Facebook to censor Americans. 2- Facebook censored Americans. 3- Facebook suppressed the story of Hunter Biden’s laptop. ‘ Further tauntingly wrote that this is a big victory for free speech.
