G7 Summit 2026 Day 2 Live Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Évian, France, on Tuesday to attend the G7 Summit, the final leg of his two-nation tour. He is visiting the French city at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, who will formally welcome him on arrival.
During the summit, PM Modi will join a working session titled “Forging New Partnerships and Rebuilding International Solidarity”, alongside leaders of G7 nations, partner countries and representatives of major international institutions, including the World Bank and the African Development Bank. Discussions are expected to centre on global economic challenges, international cooperation and sustainable development.
On the sidelines of the summit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He is also expected to meet US President Donald Trump. The White House has confirmed that Modi and Trump will hold a bilateral meeting on June 17, with progress on a proposed India-US trade agreement expected to be discussed.
India’s participation marks its 13th appearance at the G7 and Modi’s seventh consecutive attendance. The Ministry of External Affairs said India’s regular presence at the summit reflects growing international recognition of its role in addressing challenges related to peace, security, development and environmental sustainability, while consistently highlighting the concerns of the Global South.
The summit also takes place against the backdrop of continuing debate over the US-Iran agreement and global energy security concerns. Trump, who arrived in France on Monday, is expected to hold meetings with world leaders as discussions focus on trade, security, the Strait of Hormuz, Ukraine and broader geopolitical challenges.
