Every day lakhs of devotees come to the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh and offer money, jewelery and other things to Lord Ram. This donation is deposited in the donation boxes of the temple. The job of withdrawing and counting money from these boxes was given to some employees. Now the allegation is that these same employees stole crores of rupees from the offerings of devotees. This matter became bigger because the employees whose salary was Rs 18 to 20 thousand per month, bought land and plots worth crores. The whole matter came to light from here and now SIT investigation is going on.
This matter came into limelight when former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav posted on social media platform Ram Mandir Raised the issue of corruption in the offerings. Akhilesh Yadav is one of the first to bring this matter to light. It was only after he raised the matter that there was a stir in political and administrative circles and then the demand for investigation and action started.
On Saturday, he wrote on X, ‘The origin of this conspiracy is not far’, so in reality there will be no need to go far to take action. If the police are unable to find out the culprit then let us help.
Huge difference between employees’ income and their assets
The job of counting the money offered in the Ram temple was given to some special employees. This work was of great responsibility because thousands of devotees donate every day. But the investigating agencies suspected that there was a huge difference between the income and property of these employees.
One employee bought land worth about Rs 1.5 crore and another bought a plot worth about Rs 40 lakh. Whereas the salary of both was only 18 to 20 thousand rupees per month. Seeing this the investigation started. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav had also raised this issue, after which the matter became headlines in the entire state.
Who is Lavkush Mishra and why is he in the news?
The first name that came up in this whole matter was that of Lavkush Mishra. this young man Ayodhya He is a resident of Meenapur Fagauli village of Shujaganj area of Rudauli. His responsibility was to withdraw and count money from donation boxes in Ram temple.
When the investigation team reached his house, Rs 10 lakh in cash was found there. Some of this money was kept in the cupboard of the house and some money was kept hidden in a heap of cow dung. The people of the village also say that after getting the job in Ram temple, the financial condition of Lavkush had changed very rapidly.
What did Lavkush’s father say?
Lavkush’s father Bachchulal defended his son and said that his son is absolutely innocent. He admitted that Rs 10 lakh was recovered from the house but he had collected this money by mortgaging his agricultural land. He also said that his son has nothing to do with the house being built in Faizabad.
What has happened in the investigation so far?
SOG took Lavkush Mishra into custody and started interrogation. Efforts are being made to find out from him what role he played in the entire process of counting the money and how the money was made missing.
There were 6 members in the investigation team. Two policemen were in uniform and four in plain clothes. They searched Lavkush’s house and recovered cash from there. Another employee has also been detained on suspicion and he is also being interrogated.
The investigating agencies are carefully watching the CCTV footage of the temple complex. Along with this, financial records i.e. money accounts are also being investigated in depth.
Formation of SIT
Seeing the seriousness of the matter, Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust demanded Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to form a SIT i.e. Special Investigation Team and conduct an investigation. On this demand, the UP government formed a SIT.
Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant has been made the chairman of this SIT. IPS officer Kiran S and Special Secretary Finance Neil Ratan have been made its members.
The SIT has to submit the initial report within 7 days and the complete final report has to be submitted to the government within 15 days.
Visit of Construction Committee Chairman Nripendra Mishra
Ram Mandir Construction Committee Chairman Nripendra Mishra reached Ayodhya for the second time within 5 days. He reviewed the ongoing construction work in the temple. When an attempt was made to talk to him about the matter of donation theft, he clearly said that his responsibility is only to monitor the construction works and he will not talk about this matter.
What did the cabinet minister say?
UP Cabinet Minister Surya Pratap Shahi said that the Trust has started investigation and necessary steps will be taken as per its rules. He also said that the faith of any devotee will not be allowed to be tampered with.
BJP leader Vinay Katiyar’s displeasure
Former MP and senior BJP leader Vinay Katiyar expressed strong displeasure over this matter. He said that Ram temple is a symbol of struggle and sacrifice of crores of people. Thousands of workers went to jail in the temple movement and former Chief Minister Kalyan Singh even gave up his chair. In such a situation, any corruption related to the temple will not be tolerated at all.
He also said that he will apply to SSP and DIG and demand the arrest of the culprits and sending them to jail.
Samajwadi Party What did he say?
Akhilesh Yadav had publicly raised the issue of corruption in Ram temple offerings on social media platform X. He is one of the first to bring this matter to light. After he raised the issue, this matter quickly came into limelight. Then SIT was formed and now continuous action is going on.
SP leader and former Ayodhya MLA Tej Narayan Pandey alias Pawan Pandey said that until the investigation is completed, the senior officials of the trust should take moral responsibility and step down from their posts.
He also said that Mahipal Singh, associated with the Ram Mandir Trust, had already raised questions about irregularities in the offerings, which should not have been taken lightly. He demanded that if the officials are really innocent then they themselves should come forward and support the independent investigation.
