A good news has emerged for crores of people traveling by railway. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has announced that the new and improved website of IRCTC will be launched by July 15. This decision has been taken after the complaints that passengers and especially students had been making for a long time regarding the existing website of IRCTC.
Students raised the issue of ticket booking problems
Recently, this issue came up during a conversation with students at Malviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT), Jaipur. During the program, a student mentioned the problems faced while booking tickets on the IRCTC website. He especially talked about the captcha system and problems faced during ticket booking. This problem was not only of that student, but it has been the complaint of lakhs of passengers.
Railway Minister gave instructions to the officials on the spot
After listening to the student, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav immediately reacted. He called the railway officials present there and asked whether a new and improved website could be prepared soon. After discussion with the officials, he announced that the new IRCTC website will be launched by July 15. On hearing this, the students present in the program expressed happiness by clapping.
Actually, there have been many complaints from passengers regarding the existing IRCTC website. Many times the website runs very slowly, crashes suddenly or there is a delay in receiving the OTP. The biggest problem occurs during Tatkal ticket booking, when lakhs of people try to book tickets simultaneously. At such times, there is huge pressure on the website and many passengers are not able to get tickets.
In today’s time, a large part of railway ticket booking is done through online medium. Earlier people used to go to the reservation counter of the railway station to get tickets, but now most of the people use mobile apps and websites. According to Railways, about 88 percent tickets are now being booked through digital medium. This is why it has become very important for the website to be fast and reliable.
In the last few years, Railways has taken many steps to make the ticket booking system more secure. To prevent fake booking and misuse, more than 3 crore IRCTC accounts were closed in 2025. At the same time, about 2.94 crore accounts were temporarily suspended and asked to be re-verified.
Railways also takes strict action against fake accounts
Apart from this, Railways is also emphasizing on promoting the use of technology. Recently, IRCTC had announced the launch of an AI based system to monitor the quality and cleanliness of food in railway kitchens. Under this, cameras have been installed in more than 800 railway kitchens across the country, which are monitored from a central control room. It is expected from the new IRCTC website that ticket booking will become easier, faster and convenient than before. This will provide a better experience to the passengers and will also reduce many problems faced during ticket booking.
