The investigation into the accident of Air India flight AI 171 has not been completed even after a year. Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said on Friday that the investigation is underway under all national and international regulations.
At the same time, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), which is investigating the case, said that the investigation team has conducted a detailed investigation in one year. Success has been achieved in examining the aircraft’s systems, flight recorder data (black box), engine parts and operational records.
The relatives of the deceased organized a tribute program at the accident site on Friday. Radhika Rupani, daughter of former Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani, also planted trees there. Many family members cried after seeing the pictures of the dead.
On June 12, 2025, London-bound AI-171 flight crashed into the medical college hostel in Meghaninagar, killing 260 people.

One year of Ahmedabad plane crash

The flight was going from Ahmedabad to London but crashed soon after take-off.
According to Bhaskar’s ground report, even after a year of the accident, the scars of that tragedy have not been completely erased in the hostel premises of BJ Medical College. Even today, blood stains are visible where the debris of the plane had fallen and bodies of people were found.
Here, the families of those who died in the accident are still in shock. Some people are still afraid of flying, while others are taking counseling to recover from this deep shock.
Air India compensated 96% of the affected families
Air India on Thursday said that it has given interim compensation of Rs 25 lakh each to 96% of the families affected by the plane crash that occurred on June 12, 2025 in Ahmedabad. Only those families whose documentation is incomplete or where there are disputes in the family have not received compensation. Also, 94% of the people injured on the ground have either received full compensation in one go. The rest had taken forms from the helpdesk, but have not yet submitted them.
Tata Sons has formed the AI171 Memorial and Welfare Trust to help those affected by the AI171 disaster. Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran had announced an assistance of ₹1 crore for the families of all those who died. The entire ₹1 crore has been given to 91% families.
