US-Israel-Iran War News Today Live Updates: Iran on Monday launched a barrage of missiles towards Israel after vowing to retaliate against the US and Israel over a fresh attack on Beirut.
The latest Iranian missile strikes mark the first such direct incident against Israel since a fragile truce came into effect in April.
Earlier, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Iran “will not only halt the path of negotiations, but we will also be in direct confrontation with the enemy”, following continued Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon and Beirut.
Israel’s military struck Beirut’s southern suburbs on Sunday, hitting apartments in two buildings after saying it had intercepted rockets launched by Hezbollah into Israeli territory. The Lebanese health ministry said the strike killed two people and wounded 20 others, including four children and four women.
Meanwhile, Trump warned against any Israeli retaliation following Tehran’s latest missile strikes, arguing that further escalation could jeopardise delicate negotiations.
According to Axios, Trump said he planned to personally call Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and urge restraint after Iran launched missiles at Israel on Sunday, the first such attack since an April ceasefire took hold in the region.
“I am going to call Bibi right now and tell him not to retaliate,” Trump said in a telephonic interview, using Netanyahu’s nickname.
