Madison Square Garden will enforce TSA-style screening and a strict no-bag policy for NBA Finals Game 3 as President Donald Trump attends the Knicks-Spurs showdown.

Madison Square Garden is preparing for one of its biggest nights in decades, and not just because the New York Knicks are hosting their first NBA Finals game since 1999.
With U.S. President Donald Trump set to attend Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Monday, arena officials have announced enhanced security measures, urging fans to arrive at least two hours before tip-off and bring as few personal items as possible.
The Knicks confirmed on Saturday that a strict no-bag policy will be enforced, while all spectators entering the iconic venue will be subject to what the organisation described as “TSA-style screening procedures.”
In a joint announcement with the U.S. Secret Service, Madison Square Garden warned fans that there would be “no storage available for prohibited items” and encouraged attendees to “limit personal items to an absolute minimum.”
Trump, a longtime Knicks supporter, revealed on Friday that he plans to attend the game. Team owner James Dolan, who has previously donated to Trump’s political campaigns, reportedly extended the invitation.
The President has become a familiar face at major sporting events during his second term, having already attended the Super Bowl, Daytona 500 and Ryder Cup this year.
Extensive Security Measures
The Secret Service has issued a lengthy list of prohibited items for Monday’s game. Weapons, ammunition, explosives, drones, laser pointers, aerosols, selfie sticks, bicycles, balloons, recreational mobility devices, and non-service animals will all be barred from entering the arena.
Glass, metal and thermal containers are also prohibited.
New York Police Department officials confirmed they are working closely with the Secret Service to coordinate security arrangements around the venue and surrounding streets.
Traffic Challenges Expected
Trump’s visit is expected to create significant logistical challenges in Midtown Manhattan. City officials acknowledged that presidential visits already bring major traffic disruptions, while a visit tied to a sold-out NBA Finals game adds another layer of complexity.
The Knicks currently hold a 2-0 lead over the San Antonio Spurs heading into Game 3, with Madison Square Garden set to host its first NBA Finals contest in 27 years.
