India on Tuesday ruled out any role for third parties in matters related to boundary issues with its neighbour Nepal, in response to recent remarks made by Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah on land encroachment.
In a press briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India had taken note of Shah’s comments as well as a subsequent statement issued by Nepal’s foreign ministry.
The foreign ministry’s spokesman said nearly 98 per cent of the India-Nepal boundary has already been demarcated, with only a few segments remaining unresolved due to factors such as the shifting course of the Gandak River. Jaiswal added that both countries have established bilateral mechanisms to address all boundary-related matters.
