Trump’s remark came after he held a “good” and “productive” call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hezbollah.

At present, a fragile ceasefire between Washington and Tehran has been in place since April 8, after both sides exchanged proposals through intermediaries in an effort to end the Middle East conflict that began with US strikes on February 28.
Hours after Iran called off negotiations with the US, President Donald Trump announced that talks with Iran are “continuing at a rapid pace”.
Trump’s remark came after he held a “good” and “productive” call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hezbollah.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Israel and Hezbollah have agreed to stop the fighting.
“I had a very productive call with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, of Israel, and there will be no Troops going to Beirut, and any Troops that are on their way, have already been turned back. Likewise, through highly placed Representatives, I had a very good call with Hezbollah, and they agreed that all shooting will stop — That Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel,” he said.
Ebrahim Aziz, head of the national security commission of the Iranian parliament, earlier said that Tehran is prepared for a military response if the attacks against Lebanon do not stop completely.
“If the attacks against Lebanon do not stop completely, the consequences will be severe for the Zionist regime and U.S. forces in the region. They are fully aware that this is not an empty threat, and we are prepared for a military response,” he wrote on X.
Iran Suspends US Talks
Iran had suspended dialogue with mediators, citing Israel’s expanding offensive in Lebanon. Tehran said Israel must halt its offensive in Lebanon before any wider deal to end the war could be agreed.
Iran and the US have been engaged in a series of air strikes in the last week despite ongoing diplomatic efforts, which failed to produce an agreement to end the war or restore access through the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial shipping channel for Gulf oil and gas exports.
Meanwhile, Israel expanded its ground offensive in Lebanon, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowing to push deeper into the country and instructing the military to strike “terror targets” in a south Beirut district.
“We are working to tighten the noose around Hezbollah’s capabilities and continue to deepen targeted strikes,” Israel Defense Forces spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Ella Waweya said in a post on X on Monday.
