Smoke Inside Team Bus Forces Evacuation of Gujarat Titans Players
The journey back to the team hotel proved difficult for Gujarat Titans players and support staff after their defeat in the IPL final, with a breakdown of the team bus leading to a brief safety scare on Sunday night.
The incident occurred while the squad was travelling back after losing to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final.
What we know about the incident?
A short circuit reportedly caused the bus to break down on the road while carrying players and support staff. According to PTI, smoke spread inside the vehicle following the malfunction, prompting an evacuation of all those on board.
The players and staff were safely moved out of the bus. No injuries were reported in the incident.
After leaving the bus, team members remained on the roadside for a short period while alternative transport was arranged. A second bus was later brought in to take the players and support staff to their hotel.
All members of the travelling group were reported safe and unharmed.
Difficult end to the season
The transport scare added to an already disappointing night for Gujarat Titans. Earlier in the evening, the team had suffered a five-wicket defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL final.
Despite smoke filling the vehicle following the short circuit, all passengers were evacuated safely and another bus was arranged to complete the journey.
