After the use of Indian weapons like BrahMos, Akash, Loitering Munition and Netra in Operation Sindoor, their demand has increased rapidly in the world. Many countries have shown interest in buying them, while deals worth thousands of crores of rupees have also been signed with some. Their value is more than Rs 21,000 crore. According to the Defense Ministry, India’s defense exports will reach a record Rs 38,424 crore in 2025-26, which is 62% more than last year. Deals worth about Rs 12,500 crore have been signed for BrahMos with Philippines, Vietnam and two other countries. The deal with Indonesia worth about Rs 3,600 crore is in the final approval stage. A contract worth Rs 6,100 crore has already been signed with Armenia for the Akash missile system. Rs 38,424 crore to more than 100 countries. India now exports defense equipment to more than 100 countries, the major ones being the US, France and Armenia. The US is the biggest buyer with systems and components worth $2.8 billion going to major companies like Boeing and Lockheed Martin. Countries like Armenia are buying ready-made weapons. The government has set a defense export target of Rs 50,000 crore by 2029-30. In 2016-17 it was only Rs 1,522 crore. That means in less than a decade it has registered an increase of more than 25 times.
