Congress MLC Yathindra Siddaramaiah, the son of outgoing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, appeared confident of a place in the new Karnataka cabinet under DK Shivakumar, saying the Congress high command has assured him of a ministerial berth
However, Yathindra said nothing had been finalised yet and that he remained hopeful about his prospects. “Nothing has been decided yet. I am an aspirant for a ministerial berth, and the high command has also assured me that I will be made a minister. So, naturally, I am hopeful,” he told reporters in Bengaluru.
This came after reports suggested that Siddarmaiah had asked for his son to be appointed the deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka before tendering his resignation on May 28 to pave the way for a leadership change.

What Did DK Shivakumar Say On Yathindra?
Meanwhile, Chief Minister-designate Shivakumar remained silent on the prospect of Yathindra becoming the deputy CM, but said the duo should continue to work together.
“He is my colleague. We have worked together in the party before, we should continue to work together,” he told reporters.
On the other hand, Yathindra said he had called on Shivakumar to personally congratulate him on his elevation as CM. “I have met him only at Vidhana Soudha and on a few occasions elsewhere. I had not met him in his office or at his residence. So I just wanted to come and personally congratulate him,” he said.
Asked whether he was in the reckoning for the post of deputy CM, Yathindra said no such demand had been made by him or his supporters, leaving the decision to the party high command. He also said he had discussed the Special Intensive Revision in the state and political affairs in Mysuru district, without elaborating further.
