HS Prannoy produced one of the standout comebacks of the Singapore Open 2026, fighting back from a crushing first-game loss to defeat fifth seed Jonatan Christie and storm into the Round of 16.

The Indian veteran looked completely outplayed early on as Christie dominated the opening game 21-10 with sharp attacking play, relentless pressure and superb court coverage.

Prannoy struggled to settle into the match and committed several unforced errors while the Indonesian controlled the rallies with ease.

But the momentum shifted dramatically in the second game.

Prannoy came out far more aggressive and composed, attacking confidently with sharper smashes and much better net play. He dictated the pace of rallies brilliantly and repeatedly forced Christie into mistakes to level the contest with an emphatic 21-12 win.

The deciding game turned into a tense battle.

Prannoy carried his momentum into the decider and stayed neck-and-neck with Christie through the early exchanges. At one stage, the Indian trailed 8-11 before producing a crucial burst of three straight points to edge ahead 11-10 at the interval.

From there, Prannoy maintained control under pressure.

Despite Christie trying to claw his way back into the contest, the Indian shuttler held his nerve in the closing stages with disciplined rallies and timely attacking shots.

Prannoy eventually sealed the decider 21-18 to complete a memorable comeback victory in one hour.

The final scoreline read 10-21, 21-12, 21-18 in favour of Prannoy.

It was a huge statement win for the Indian, especially considering Christie entered the tournament as the fifth seed and one of the favourites in the draw.
