On Monday, President of India Draupadi Murmu honored Dharmendra posthumously with the Padma Award. Hema Malini came to receive this honour, at which time she became very emotional, while daughter Ahana was seen crying bitterly. Now Hema Malini has made an emotional post saying that she felt Dharmendra’s presence while receiving the honour. He felt as if Dharmendra had held his hand.

Hema Malini wrote from the official social media account along with pictures of the Padma Award ceremony,

A very emotional and joyous moment, a moment when I truly felt the warm presence of my husband Dharam ji, as if he was holding my hand and leading me to the stage where his Padma Vibhushan award was waiting for him.

She further wrote, ‘Yesterday, at the serene and dignified Padma Award ceremony, when His Excellency the President himself was giving awards to all the deserving honorees, I was present there on behalf of Dharam ji. At that moment a deep feeling of pride welled up within me. Memories of the years spent with him came alive, first as his co-star in many successful films and later as his life partner. These memories brought tears to my eyes.

Hema Malini further wrote emotionally, ‘Dharmendra was a loving and caring husband, a loving father and grandfather, a true friend, a man of good thoughts, a true guide and a trusted companion. Dharam ji had all these beautiful qualities and much more. He was a generous, good-hearted and giving man who was loved by everyone who knew him.’

I will cherish the memories till the last moment – Hema Malini

In the end Hema Malini writes, ‘I accept this honor with humility on behalf of my entire family, millions of their fans and well-wishers. I thank God for giving me such a wonderful life partner, whose memories I will cherish till the last moment of my life. These are the true feelings of my heart, which overflowed while receiving the country’s second highest honor ‘Padma Vibhushan’ from Dharam ji.

Daughter Esha Deol also became emotional

Apart from Hema Malini, Esha Deol has also written an emotional post. they wrote,

A moment of pride, a moment full of emotions. How deeply we wish he were here with us today, looking as handsome as ever in his white shirt and blue suit, going to receive this prestigious honor with the eagerness of a small child. Yesterday, when my mother accepted this honor on behalf of our family, and the youngest Ahana was there on behalf of all six of us, she had tears in her eyes and applause in her hands, in honor of her father.

Dharmendra died on 24 November 2025 at the age of 89. He was ill for a long time. Ever since Dharmendra’s death, Hema Malini keeps sharing emotional posts and pictures remembering him.
