After meeting the speaker, the three MLAs met TVK leader and PWD minister Aadhav Arjuna.

AIADMK has suffered a major political setback in Tamil Nadu. Three rebel MLAs of the party resigned on Monday. The MLAs who resigned include Maragatham Kumaravel, P. Satyabhama and S. Jayakumar is included.

Assembly Speaker JCD Prabhakar has accepted the resignation of the three MLAs. After meeting the speaker, the three MLAs met TVK leader and PWD minister Aadhav Arjuna. Kumaravel said that he will soon join the party at TVK headquarters.

These MLAs were among the 25 AIADMK MLAs who went against the party whip and voted in support of the TVK government in the Assembly floor test on May 13. After the three resignations, the number of AIADMK MLAs has reduced from 47 to 44. By-elections will now be held on Maduranthakam, Dharapuram and Perundurai seats.

5 MLAs returned to Palanisamy camp, now 27 MLAs

The results of Tamil Nadu assembly elections came on 4 May. AIADMK had won 47 seats. After poor performance in the elections, the group of AIADMK leaders divided into two camps. One faction was that of AIADMK chief Edappadi Palaniswami.

The other faction was led by party leaders CV Shanmugam and SP Velumani. Shanmugam and Velumani claimed the support of around 30 MLAs. In the floor test of May 13, 25 AIADMK MLAs supported TVK.

Meanwhile, 5 MLAs of Shanmugam-Velumani faction returned to Palanisamy’s camp. After this the number of supporting Palanisamy MLAs has increased to 27. After the resignation of 3 MLAs and five MLAs defecting to the Palaniswami camp, the number of MLAs in the Shanmugam-Velumani camp has reduced from 25 to 17.

Palaniswami said – this is a pre-planned conspiracy

AIADMK chief Palaniswami termed the entire incident as a pre-planned conspiracy and horse trading. He alleged that resignations were accepted on the ground floor of the Secretariat and TVK membership was given on the first floor.

Stalin said- TVK is doing horse trading at horse-speed

DMK chief and former CM MK Stalin said that TVK is doing horse-trading at horse-speed. He alleged that first TVK sought the support of allies for majority, then got the support of the rebel faction of AIADMK during the floor test and now it is trying to get the MLAs to resign and include them in their party.
