Metro services in both Bengaluru and Delhi will begin earlier than usual on Sunday, May 24, to help thousands of candidates appearing for the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026 reach their centres on time.

Authorities in both cities have announced special arrangements keeping in mind the large number of aspirants expected to travel early in the morning for one of the country’s toughest competitive examinations.

Namma Metro To Begin Operations From 6 am

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited has announced that Namma Metro services will commence from 6 am on Sunday instead of the usual 7 am Sunday schedule.

According to a report in The Hinduthe early operations will begin from all terminal stations across the Metro network, including:

  • Whitefield (Kadugodi)
  • Challaghatta on the Purple Line
  • Madavara on the Green Line
  • Silk Institute on the Green Line
  • RV Road
  • Bommasandra on the Yellow Line

The revised timing has been introduced specifically to assist UPSC aspirants travelling to examination centres across Bengaluru.

Officials expect the move to reduce dependence on road transport and help candidates avoid traffic congestion during the early morning rush.

Delhi Metro Revises Sunday Timings

In Delhi, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has also announced special early services for UPSC candidates on May 24.

According to the DMRC, metro services on select routes will begin at 6 am instead of the regular 7 am Sunday schedule.

The special arrangement will apply to:

  • Pink Line
  • Magenta Line
  • Grey Line

The Pink Line connects Majlis Park and Shiv Vihar, while the Magenta Line operates between Krishna Park Extension and Botanical Garden as well as Deepali Chowk and Majlis Park. The Grey Line connects Dhansa Bus Stand and Dwarka.

DMRC stated that trains on these lines will run at intervals of around 15 minutes between 6 am and 7 am. After 7 am, normal Sunday schedules will resume.

Relief For Thousands Of Aspirants

The decision by both Metro corporations is expected to provide major relief for students, especially in cities known for heavy traffic congestion and long commuting times. Many UPSC aspirants rely heavily on Metro connectivity because of predictable travel timings and easier access to examination centres spread across different parts of the cities.

Authorities have advised candidates to plan their journeys in advance and make use of the early morning services to avoid last-minute delays and inconvenience on examination day.
