Toffee exports from India have increased by 166% in the last 12 years to reach ₹132 crore in the financial year 2025-26 (FY26). Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has shared this information on social media today i.e. on 20th May. In the financial year 2013-14, the total export of toffee from the country was ₹49.68 crore.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal wrote on social media, “India’s ‘Toffee Tale’ (story of toffee) will definitely sound sweet to the ears! Toffee exports have registered a growth of about 166% since 2013-14.”
Italy’s PM Meloni had thanked Modi
Actually, the Commerce Minister released this data when Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni thanked PM Narendra Modi on social media for gifting ‘Melody’ toffee.
PM Modi gifted Melody toffee to Meloni. This toffee is being sold in India since 1983. It is manufactured by Parle company.

Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni has shared a video on her social media account. In this video, she is seen saying, “Prime Minister Modi has brought a very nice toffee as a gift – Melody.”

This word was first used by the Prime Minister of Italy herself during the COP28 summit held in Dubai in the year 2023. After this, due to the warm meetings of the two leaders on global platforms, this hashtag has been continuously going viral on social media.
