Three coaches of Ujjaini Express derailed in Rishikesh on Monday night. The train was empty at the time of the accident, so there was no loss of life. At the same time, when the coach derailed, hearing the loud noise, nearby people came out of their houses and shops. The accident happened at around 9:30 pm in Khand village area, some distance from Rishikesh railway station. According to the information, shunting of Ujjaini Express operating from Yoganagari railway station was being done. Meanwhile, three coaches of the train suddenly derailed. After the incident, there was panic in the railway administration and railway officers, engineering team and police reached the spot. The work of repairing the track and removing the coaches continued till late night. Suspecting a technical glitch: According to eyewitnesses, the train suddenly moved at high speed during shunting and derailed at some distance. After this the coaches got a strong shock and they collided with the nearby wall. Whose loud sound was heard. After this, nearby people came out of their houses and shops. Railway employees immediately evacuated the area around the track and movement on the track was stopped for some time. According to sources, in the initial investigation, a technical glitch during shunting is believed to be the cause of the accident. However, railway officials are currently refraining from saying anything openly. Officials say that the technical team is investigating the entire matter and preparing a report. Local people demanded investigation. Videos and pictures of the accident have surfaced on social media. Local citizens have demanded a fair investigation from the railway administration and action against those responsible, so that such incidents are not repeated in future. Kotwali in-charge Inspector Kailash Chandra Bhatt said that the train was completely empty and at present no railway service has been affected. Ujjaini Express connects Indore to Rishikesh-Dehradun. Ujjaini Express is an important train connecting Indore of Madhya Pradesh with Haridwar, Yoganagari Rishikesh and Dehradun. It operates two days a week, Thursday and Sunday. It leaves Indore at around 3:25 pm and reaches Yoganagari Rishikesh the next day at around 6:45 pm. Whereas, it leaves for return from Rishikesh at around 6:15 in the morning. It is considered to be one of the important rail services for passengers traveling to and from Uttarakhand.
