A new claim has come to light regarding the fall of the government of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan. The report of American media outlet Drop Site News said that Imran’s chair was not removed just by a no-confidence motion. There was an American conspiracy and the role of Pak Army behind this. According to the report, Imran Khan met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on 24 February 2022. On the same day, Russia launched an attack on Ukraine. America was angry with this visit. He wanted Pakistan to openly criticize Russia on the Ukraine war, but the Imran government adopted a neutral stance. After this, on March 7, 2022, a conversation took place between Pakistan’s then Ambassador to Washington Asad Majeed Khan and US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Trump. Lu told Majeed that America would ‘forgive everything’ if Imran withdrew from the no-confidence motion. After 33 days i.e. on 9 April 2022, the Imran government fell. In a hotel in Washington, Lu had put pressure on Majeed to remove Imran at the lunch table in Washington. Lu expressed displeasure over Pakistan’s stance on Ukraine war. He said that Pakistan is not criticizing Russia and America and Europe do not accept this. Lu said, America is angry with Imran’s visit to Russia. The matter reached the no-confidence motion. Lu indicated that if Imran remains in power, Pakistan will be left alone. Majeed wrote in the letter that this message was not possible without the approval of the White House. How Pakistan’s politics changed after Imran’s removal April 2022: Shahbaz Sharif became Prime Minister the next day after Imran’s removal. November 2022: Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa retires. Asim Munir became the new Army Chief in his place. Imran had alleged that this appointment was done after consultation with Nawaz Sharif. 9 May 2023: Imran arrested from Islamabad High Court premises in corruption case. After this violence broke out in Pakistan. October 2023: Nawaz Sharif returns to Pakistan. Relief was granted in many cases against him. 2024 Elections: PTI’s election symbol bat snatched away in December 2023. Candidates had to contest the elections as independent candidates. PTI-supported candidates won the maximum number of seats. Despite this, PML-N and PPP formed a coalition government. Munir’s power increased further in 2025: According to the report, after constitutional changes, Asim Munir was made Field Marshal and Chief of Defense Forces. This strengthened his hold on the army, defense infrastructure and nuclear command of Pakistan. US-Pak relations closer after Imran After Imran’s departure from power, relations between Pakistan and America warmed up. Relations between the two countries reached strategic and trade agreements. Pakistan signed a defense agreement with Saudi Arabia, which was opposed by the Imran government. Crypto Council formed in Pakistan. An agreement related to a $36 billion remittance pipeline was signed with Trump family company LF. Rare minerals deals worth $500 million were also reached. An offer was also made to send soldiers for Gaza Force. US President Donald Trump openly praised Asim Munir and Shahbaz Sharif. Imran had already alleged foreign conspiracy. Imran Khan had also alleged foreign conspiracy at the time of the fall of the government. In March 2022, at a rally, he waved a paper and claimed that a conspiracy had been hatched to topple his government. Later this case became the cipher case. Now after this report, Imran’s party PTI has said that the cipher was genuine. Party general secretary Salman Akram Raja said, “It has now been proven that the cipher was true.” So far 188 cases have been registered against Imran Khan. He is in jail since August 2023. He has been sentenced to 14 years in the Al-Qadir Trust case. In January 2024, Imran and former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi were sentenced to 10 years each in the Cypher case. Later this sentence was canceled by Islamabad High Court.
