Noida Woman Dies After Alleged Torture Over Dowry, Two Arrested
A suspected dowry death case has been reported from Noida’s Jalpura village under the Ecotech-3 police station area, where a 24-year-old woman allegedly died after jumping from the roof following repeated harassment linked to dowry demands.
According to police, the deceased, Deepika, had been married to Hrithik for around 14 months. Her family alleged that the marriage involved a dowry settlement including a Fortuner SUV and Rs 1 crore. They also accused her in-laws of continuously demanding more dowry after the wedding.
Officials said Deepika had severe injury marks on her body. Police stated that on the night of May 17, she died after allegedly jumping from the roof after being driven to despair due to dowry harassment.
After receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot, carried out inquest formalities and sent the body for post-mortem examination. Based on a written complaint filed by the deceased woman’s father, a case has been registered under relevant legal sections.
Police have arrested the deceased’s husband Hrithik and father-in-law Manoj. Further legal proceedings are underway in the case.
