A Mumbai family’s surprise celebration for their son’s 55 per cent exam score is making many people smile online. Instead of focusing on marks alone, the family decided to celebrate his effort with cheers, claps and a special cake based on his marksheet.
The heartwarming moment has also started conversations online about how emotional support from parents can matter more than exam scores. Many social media users said they wished they had received similar encouragement from their families while growing up.
Family Celebrates Son’s 55% Score
The video was shared on Instagram by Mumbai-based user Rukhsar Patel. In the clip, family members prepare a surprise cake for the student after his exam results.
The cake itself grabbed attention because it looked exactly like a marksheet. It displayed the student’s subject-wise marks, including 57 in English, 44 in Marathi, 56 in Hindi, 59 in maths and 44 in social sciences. The total marks mentioned on the cake were 276 out of 500, which came to 55.20%.
The video then shows the student entering the room while family members clap and cheer for him. He appears surprised before cutting the customised cake as everyone celebrates around him.
The clip stood out online because many people are used to seeing students face pressure or criticism over marks. Here, the family chose encouragement instead.
Social Media Shares Mixed Reactions
The video quickly drew reactions from users online. While many praised the family’s approach, others shared personal stories about not receiving the same appreciation despite scoring higher marks.
A user wrote, “This is how every parent should celebrate.”
Another commented, “Didn’t get this respect even at 84%.”
A person shared, “95% in 10th, 94.8% in 12th also. Didn’t get the same treatment.”
Someone else wrote, “Congrats buddy… don’t worry about marks, they don’t define your future.”
Many users said the celebration felt refreshing because students are often judged only through percentages and rankings.
Mother Explains Why The Celebration Mattered
After the video gained attention, Patel also responded to several comments and explained why the family celebrated the result.
“For me, my child’s 55 marks are more than 95 or 85 for me; his heart is more than hurting him by telling him good or bad. I have to keep him happy so that he doesn’t consider himself less than anyone. There are many parents who are like this. They have lost their children by saying something wrong,” she wrote.
Her response was appreciated by many users, who said the video highlighted the importance of kindness and emotional support during exam season.
