Efforts are on to form the government in Tamil Nadu since May 4, but till now no success has been achieved. TVK Chief Vijay is talking to many parties for support but till now he has not been able to collect the magic figure of majority. Meanwhile, the small party VCK, which has become important in the state politics, has called Vijay arrogant and said that instead of meeting personally and seeking support, he is seeking support through messages on WhatsApp.
Vijay’s party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) has got 108 seats, but they will have to give up one seat if they win from two seats, Trichy East or Perambur. So this number comes down to 107 and the benchmark of majority is 118. Congress has announced the support of 5 of its MLAs to TVK, but this is not fulfilling their figure.
Meanwhile, there was also discussion that Vijay can also seek support from VCK, but now VCK has expressed strong displeasure over the attitude of TVK Chief Vijay.
VCK has won two seats in Tamil Nadu assembly elections. However, considering the political equation of the state, the equation of individual MLAs has become necessary.
In a post on
VCK general secretary Sinthnai Selvan asked, “Shouldn’t he have openly discussed how important it is to avoid being influenced by second-tier leaders and also how important it is for the Governor to stop the BJP from entering Tamil Nadu? How are we to understand that someone is asking for support through a WhatsApp message and is just asking us to respond?”
Further in his post, the VCK General Secretary also accused sections of the TVK leadership of showing arrogance after the election results and criticized their statements for demeaning the DMK and speaking in a “vindictive tone” instead of adopting the conciliatory approach required to form an alliance.
He also mocked TVK’s criticism of “dynasty politics” and pointed out the contradiction in seeking support from parties aligned with the Congress at the same time.
He asked, “What is the logic of calling DMK politics of monarchy and then seeking support from its own allies without any hesitation?”
The VCK leader also expressed strong protest over comments allegedly made by TVK officials claiming that VCK workers were acting as “sleeper cells” within the party.
He said, “There are only 20 people in VCK, including Thiruma. The rest are our people. What kind of political morality is it to call them ‘sleeper cells’?”
Selvan further alleged that some TVK leaders are using Vijay’s popularity and star image to settle their personal political vendettas against the DMK, while actor-turned-politician Vijay is being kept politically isolated.
He also criticized TVK’s decision to send its MLAs to resorts after the elections and said that this has reintroduced “resort politics” in Tamil Nadu.
Warning of a major constitutional crisis, Selvan alleged that the BJP was trying to impose Governor’s rule in the state, and appealed to the people of Tamil Nadu to remain vigilant against any such move that disregards democratic norms.
