City’s visit to Mikel Arteta’s old stomping grounds may have delivered exactly what Arsenal needed — a timely swing in the title race.

In a moment that can only be described as a costly lapse in focus, Manchester City stumbled when it mattered most.

Jeremy Doku’s stoppage-time stunner rescued a dramatic 3–3 draw for Manchester City against Everton, but the bigger story was the collapse that preceded it.

After cruising through the first half, Pep Guardiola’s side lost control completely in a chaotic 13-minute spell.

Everton capitalised ruthlessly, with Thierno Barry grabbing a brace, one coming off a defensive mix-up involving Marc Guehi, and Jake O’Brien powering in a header to turn the game on its head.

With just nine minutes remaining (excluding stoppage time), Erling Haaland struck quickly to keep City alive. But it still felt like a long shot… until the dying seconds delivered chaos.

Deep into added time, well beyond the allotted six minutes (thanks to a substitution being made), Doku produced a moment of pure quality.

Cutting in onto his left, he opened his body and curled a sublime effort past James Garner into the top-right corner. It marked his fifth goal involvement of the season, and arguably his most decisive.

Despite the late rescue act, the damage was already done. City now sit five points behind Arsenal, albeit with a game in hand.

For Arteta, who once honed his craft at Everton, this result may feel symbolic. Arsenal, currently on 76 points, now control their own destiny. Win their final three matches, and they will end a 22-year wait for the Premier League crown.

City’s maximum possible tally stands at 83. Arsenal’s superior goal difference (by four goals currently) adds another layer of advantage.

After months of relentless pressure, the title race has tilted again. Now, it’s Arsenal’s to lose.
