After a record voter turnout of over 91% in the first phase of West Bengal Assembly elections, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed confidence that the BJP would form the government in the state. He claimed the party would win a majority of seats, took a swipe at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, and said the BJP would gain strength from the merger of a majority of AAP’s Rajya Sabha MPs.
