There is growing anticipation for the much-awaited clash between Ranbir Kapoor’s Lord Rama and Yash’s Ravana in director Nitesh Tiwari’s epic-drama Ramayana. However, Yash has confirmed that viewers will need to wait longer for the face-off between the two characters in the two-film series.
Currently, Yash is participating in Cinemacon alongside Namit Malhotra to promote Ramayana. While speaking to Fandagoduring the event, Yash clarified whether Rama and Ravana will share screen space in the first instalment.
Yash revealed that he has met Ranbir on several occasions and said that both actors share a common vision for the success of Ramayana.
While opening up on his relationship with Ranbir on set and how they developed their dynamic, Yash said, “Interestingly, we both have never come together on screen in this film. As you all know, it’s a two-part film. So, in the first part, I think we have, as Ravana, I have my own kingdom, and Rama has his own kingdom.”
“But yeah, we have met a couple of times, and he’s such a fabulous actor. I think it is mutual respect which has played out. Chemistry is like, when you’re out to do something phenomenal, and it’s as ambitious as Ramayanaall of us have a single agenda: to give our best to present this story. I think our visions are aligned, so the chemistry is not even an issue. We’re enjoying,” he added.
Regarding Yash’s portrayal of Ravana, director Nitesh Tiwari has previously stated that his Ramayana films will not depict Ravana solely as a villain. Instead, Yash’s portrayal of Ravana will highlight his admirable qualities. Tiwari, in an interview with Collidersaid, “See, Ravana had so many aspects to his life. He was a great warrior, he was an accomplished musician, a scholar, a benevolent king… a great Shiva devotee. There was so much to him than just being a black character.”
Ranbir’s first look as Lord Rama was unveiled on April 2, 2026 on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. The teaser depicts Rama in multiple avatars – as a king, the ideal son, a warrior, and a righteous man.
Ramayana also features Sai Pallavi as goddess Sita, Ravie Dubey as Laxman and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman among others.
