US President Donald Trump on Monday warned that any Iranian “fast attack ships” approaching the US naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz would be “eliminated”, after weekend talks with Tehran ended without an agreement.
In a post on Truth Social, the platform he owns, Trump also repeated his claim that the Iranian Navy had been “completely obliterated”.
“Iran’s Navy is lying at the bottom of the sea, completely obliterated — 158 ships. What we have not hit are their small number of, what they call, ‘fast attack ships,’ because we did not consider them much of a threat,” he said.
Iran’s “fast attack ships” are small, high-speed, heavily armed boats used in swarm tactics to target larger vessels in narrow waterways like the Strait of Hormuz.
