UP Board Marking System 2026
This year, the UP Board has introduced a step-marking system for evaluating answer sheets. Even if the final answer is incorrect, marks will not be completely deducted. Students will receive marks for each correct step. The Board will provide ample chances to improve scores through scrutiny and compartment exams.
For High School (10th), the UP Board follows an 80+20 or 70+30 pattern, which includes theory and practical/internal assessment. In UP Board Intermediate (12th), students must secure separate passing marks in both theory and practical. A minimum of 33% marks is required to pass each subject. If a student scores less than 33% in any subject, they will be declared failed in that subject.
Benefit Of Step Marking In UP Board
Those who have attempted only part of a question in the UP Board exam, there is no need to worry. From this year, the UP Board is implementing “step marking”. Even if your final answer is wrong, you will still get marks for the correct formula and initial steps. This can increase students’ chances of passing by around 15–20%.
