A 19-year-old youth murdered a 17-year-old minor girl by slitting her throat in the Agraharam area of Cuddapah district of Andhra Pradesh. Police said that the accused had earlier proposed a relationship to the girl, which she had rejected. When the accused came to know that the girl was going to get engaged, he angrily reached her house and attacked her.
The girl was alone at home at the time of the incident, while her parents had gone to work in the fields. On receiving information from neighbours, the family immediately took him to the hospital, but he died on the way. The police have registered a case of murder against the accused Venkateshwarlu and further investigation is underway.

Election Commission transfers Chennai Police Commissioner

The Election Commission has appointed Greater Chennai Police Commissioner A. Arun has been transferred. 1997 batch IPS officer Abhin Dinesh has been appointed in his place. The Commission has directed that Arun should not be deployed in any election related work till the assembly elections are over.
