Pakistan’s Ishaq Dar Speaks With Saudi FM Again As Islamabad Prepares To Host US‑Iran Talks

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held his second consecutive call with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan on Thursday as Islamabad prepares to host critical US-Iran talks.

Speaking to CNN-News18a top diplomatic source said the discussions came amid ongoing assurances and unresolved issues related to the temporary ceasefire between Washington and Tehran.

“Saudi Arabia wants full clarity on all aspects of the deal,” the source added, while nothing that United States wants the Gulf nation to be “on loop for the whole talk process”.

During the call, Dar exchanged views with Prince Faisal on the evolving regional situation. He expressed Pakistan’s deep appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s continued support in its “efforts to promote peace and stability in the region”.

Both leaders underscored the importance of continued dialogue and diplomatic engagement to advance lasting peace and agreed to remain in close contact, the source added.

Dar and the Saudi minister first spoke on Wednesday. According to a readout by Pakistan’s Foreign Affairs Ministry, both officials expressed deep concern over ceasefire violations in Lebanon and stressed the urgent need for full respect and implementation of the truce to ensure lasting peace and stability.

The calls follow the temporary ceasefire announced on Wednesday, which paused Tehran’s missile and drone attacks on its Gulf neighbours in retaliation for Israeli-American strikes.

Since 28 February, Israel and the United States have conducted a military campaign against Iran, resulting in thousands of casualties, while Iran has targeted what it described as US interests in several Arab countries, causing civilian casualties and infrastructure damage.

After 40 days of conflict, the US and Iran agreed to a two-week truce mediated by Pakistan. Iranian authorities have indicated they aim to complete negotiations in Islamabad and reach a final agreement during the 15-day ceasefire.
