Noida Private Schools Barred From Hiking Fee Beyond 7.23%, Changing Uniform For 5 Years

Private schools in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradeshhave been directed to limit fee increases to a maximum of 7.23% for the 2026-27 academic session, according to an official statement issued after a meeting of the District Fee Regulatory Committee. The approved hike follows the formula of Consumer Price Index (CPI) plus 5%.

The meeting was chaired by District Magistrate Medha Roopam and conducted under the provisions of the Uttar Pradesh Self-Financed Independent Schools (Fee Regulation) Act, 2018, reinforcing stricter oversight on private school operations.

No Compulsion To Buy From Specific Shops

In a key directive aimed at reducing the financial burden on parents, schools have been clearly instructed not to compel students to purchase books, uniforms, shoes, or other materials from designated vendors.

Institutions have instead been encouraged to allow flexibility and promote the use of NCERT textbooks for academic purposes.

Rules On Uniforms And Textbooks Tightened

The committee has also imposed restrictions on frequent changes in uniforms and textbooks. Schools are not permitted to alter uniforms for five consecutive years. Any proposed change must receive prior approval from the District Fee Regulatory Committee.

Similarly, institutions have been warned against changing textbooks every academic year, a practice that often increases expenses for parents unnecessarily.

Mandatory Transparency In Fee Structure

To ensure accountability, all schools must publish complete details of any fee hike on their official websites. This move is intended to improve transparency and allow parents to access clear, verifiable information regarding fee structures.

A dedicated email ID – feecommitteegbn@gmail.com – has been set up to enable parents and stakeholders to report grievances related to fee hikes or violations of the prescribed rules. Authorities have emphasised that complaints will be taken seriously and acted upon promptly.

The administration has outlined stringent penalties for non-compliance. Schools found violating the rules may face a fine of up to Rs 1 lakh and will be required to refund any excess fees collected for the first offence. A second violation could attract a penalty of Rs 5 lakh.

In cases of repeated non-compliance, institutions risk losing their official recognition, along with facing additional legal action.

Safety Norms For Schools With Swimming Pools

Schools equipped with swimming pools must obtain all necessary permissions, safety certificates, and annual registrations from the relevant authorities.

Additionally, institutions must ensure gender-appropriate coaching staff, with male coaches for boys and female coaches for girls.

Administration Warns Of Strict Enforcement

Officials have made it clear that all schools in the district are required to strictly adhere to these regulations. Any lapse will invite strict action, with school management being held directly accountable for violations.
