Puducherry Assembly Election 2026 Voting Live Updates: Around 9.50 lakh voters are set to decide the electoral fate of 294 candidates in the Puducherry Assembly elections, with authorities ensuring all arrangements for a smooth polling process, according to Chief Electoral Officer P. Jawahar.
Polling began at 7am across Puducherry and its enclaves- Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam- covering all 30 Assembly constituencies. Out of the 1,099 polling stations in the Union Territory, 209 have been identified as vulnerable and five as critical. To maintain security, 2,791 police personnel along with forces from 30 companies of Central Armed Police Forces have been deployed.
The electoral contest is primarily between the NDA alliance- comprising AINRC, BJP, AIADMK and LJK- and the INDIA bloc, which includes Congress, DMK and VCK. Adding a new dimension, actor-turned-politician Vijay’s TVK has emerged as a third force.
