Jamaica’s sprint factory just delivered another headline act.

Kishane Thompson, the Olympic and world 100m silver medallist, clocked a blistering 14.92 seconds (1.3 m/s) in the 150m at the Miramar Invitational in Florida, setting a new World Best for the distance on a regulation track.

That run shaved five hundredths off the long-standing mark of 14.97 set by Linford Christie back in 1994.

While faster times have been recorded over 150m, those came on straight tracks — making Thompson’s performance the quickest ever under standard curved-track conditions.

The race itself was a hybrid start, positioned between the 100m and 200m marks, adding another layer of intrigue to an already uncommon event.

Thompson, who also finished runner-up in the world indoor 60m this year, handled the step up in distance with ease.

For context, sprint legend Usain Bolt still holds the overall fastest 150m time (14.35 seconds) set on a straight track in Manchester in 2009. But in terms of officially recognized, curved-track efforts, Thompson now sits alone at the top.

Zimbabwe’s Tapiwanashe Makarawu pushed Thompson all the way to the line, finishing second in 14.96s, also under Christie’s previous best in a high-quality race.

Jamaica’s Dominance at Miramar Invitational

Tia Clayton led a clean sweep in the women’s 150m, winning in 16.87 (1.4 m/s) ahead of compatriots Briana Williams (16.92) and twin sister Tina Clayton (17.00).

Back in the more familiar 100m, Ackeem Blake stole the spotlight with a commanding 9.84, leaving Tate Taylor (9.95) and Rohan Watson (9.99) trailing.

To cap it off, the Jamaican team powered to victory in the mixed 4x100m relay, clocking 41.24 seconds.
