Shares of HDFC Bank are likely to be in focus on Monday, April 6, after the lender reported a steady rise in business volumes for the March 2026 quarter, as per its provisional update filed with exchanges.

The bank reported double-digit growth in both advances and deposits, signalling stable underlying momentum despite broader market volatility.

Advances see steady double-digit growth

HDFC Bank’s average advances under management stood at Rs 29.64 lakh crore for the March quarter, marking a 10 percent rise from Rs 26.95 lakh crore a year ago.

On a period-end basis, advances under management came in at around Rs 30.57 lakh crore, up 10.2 percent year-on-year.

Meanwhile, gross advances rose 12 percent year-on-year to Rs 29.60 lakh crore, compared with Rs 26.43 lakh crore in the same period last year.

Deposit growth remains strong

On the liabilities side, the bank reported healthy traction. Average deposits increased 12.8 percent year-on-year to Rs 28.51 lakh crore.

Period-end deposits stood at Rs 31.05 lakh crore, reflecting a stronger growth of 14.4 percent compared to the year-ago period.

Time deposits lead, CASA stays stable

Deposit growth continued to be driven by term deposits. Time deposits rose 15.5 percent year-on-year to Rs 20.45 lakh crore at the end of the quarter.

At the same time, CASA deposits (current and savings accounts) grew 12.3 percent to Rs 10.60 lakh crore, indicating stable low-cost deposit growth.

Shares of HDFC Bank have come under pressure, falling over 14 percent in the past month and trading near their 52-week low, after the sudden exit of Part-time Chairman & Independent Director Atanu Chakraborty on March 18, 2026.
