Actor Prakash Raj answered the questions raised regarding performing the last rites of his mother Suvarnalatha Raj after her death. Amid criticism on social media, he said that he may be an atheist, but it was important to respect his mother’s faith.

Prakash Raj’s mother Suvarnalata Raj died at the age of 86 due to health problems. He was buried at the Sacred Heart Cemetery after a funeral mass at St. Michael’s Church, Bengaluru on 31 March. During this time, family and close people associated with the film industry were present.

Meanwhile, an old interview clip of his went viral on social media, in which he had said that he does not believe in God. Regarding this, users raised questions as to why the actor, who calls himself an atheist, performed the last rites as per religious rituals.
